Diseases may develop in the nails due to many different reasons, or deformities may be seen as a reflection of a disease that affects the whole body. Thickening, discoloration, collapse and streaking of the nails can be a sign of some organ diseases.

The most common diseases of nails are:

Fungus: It is mostly seen in humid and warm environments. It increases with the constant covering of the feet and sweating.

Lichen Planus: It is a skin disease. There may be streaking, discoloration, and thickening of the nails.

Psoriasis: Pinhead-sized pits, nail discharge, thickening and yellow nail change occur.

Melanoma: Dark spots on the nail. It is important and a dermatologist should be consulted immediately.

Ingrown Toenails: It is a disease that negatively affects daily life, which occurs due to incorrect nail cutting, sweating and choosing the wrong shoes.

Dolma (Paronychia): It is a disease that occurs with redness, swelling and pain in the tissue around the nail. This area becomes inflamed over time and begins to affect the function of the finger. Chronic, that is, chronic cirrhosis may be related to diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. Candida type fungi can also cause chronic entanglement.

Apart from all these, cambering of nails can be caused by lung and heart diseases. In iron deficiency, there is thinning, flattening and lifting of the nail edges in the nails. If you have problems with your nails, you should definitely be examined by a dermatologist.
